Roles and what they allow
What you can see and do depends on your roles. A role applies either to the Whole organization or to one School. One person can have several roles, for example Teacher in the primary school and Teacher in the secondary school. Menu entries and buttons you are not allowed to use are hidden; the server checks every action again.
| Role | Applies to | What it allows |
|---|---|---|
| Director | Whole organization | Everything: organization master data, schools, calendar, users and roles, students including their background, audit log |
| Bursar | Whole organization | Read schools, calendar and students (without background). Financial functions follow later. |
| Head Teacher | One school | Details, class levels, streams and terms of the own school; users with roles in the own school; students of the own school including background |
| Academic Teacher | One school | Streams and class teachers of the own school; read students; enroll students and change their streams |
| Secretary | Whole organization or a school | Read the school structure; add and edit students, contacts, sponsorships and enrollments (without background) |
| Teacher | One school | Read the school structure and the students of the own school (without background) |
Class teacher
Section titled “Class teacher”Class teacher is not a role you can give. A teacher becomes class teacher by being assigned to a stream (see Class levels and streams). The class teacher can read the background of the students who sit in that stream today, and sees the stream under My classes on the start page.
- Head Teacher, Academic Teacher and Teacher can only be given for one school. Director and Bursar apply to the whole organization.
- A head teacher can give roles only for their own school.
- There is always at least one active director. The last director cannot remove their own role.
