Sandbox and production

Your organization has two separate environments of darasani:

• Production holds your real data: real students, real staff accounts.
• Sandbox is a test environment. Use it to try things out and to train staff. It contains invented demo data: demo students, demo staff and placeholder photos.

How to recognize the sandbox

Every page of the sandbox shows a coloured bar at the top: Sandbox – test environment. Data here is not real. The address of the sandbox also contains the word sandbox. If you do not see the bar, you are working in production.

What is separate

• Data: a change in the sandbox, for example renaming a school, never reaches production, and the other way round.
• Accounts: an account in the sandbox does not work in production. Each environment has its own accounts, activation codes and passwords.
• Messages: in the sandbox, messages that later functions send (for example SMS) are never delivered to real people.

Resetting the sandbox

The platform operator can reset the sandbox of your organization and fill it with fresh demo data, for example before a training. Everything entered in the sandbox is then deleted. Ask the operator if you need this. Production can never be reset this way.
